Line of Sight from Lived Experience

Updated: Jul 7

For those who use Omnipod 5 the term 'line of sight' is something which you might be well aware of. Omnipod defines line of sight as ‘wearing the pod and sensor on the same side of the body in a way that the two devices can see one another without your body blocking communication’.

It is also recommended for the pod and sensor to be more than 3 inches (7.5cm) apart.

When there is a communication issue it can cause temporary problems with automated mode, and the systems ability to work as a hybrid closed loop system.

Attached below is a useful infographic on the most preferred places stated by those with lived experience who are part of Podding Peer Support. It details which areas for wearing the Pod and sensor (both FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus or Dexcom G6) can help with communication.

We hope that it is useful for anyone of interest, especially for those who are starting out using Omnipod 5, or people experiencing communication issues between the Pod and sensor.
